JANELLE V. O’BOYLE, ED.D., L.P.C.

Janelle V. O’Boyle, Ed.D., L.P.C. received her Doctorate of Education in Counseling (Ed.D.) from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Pittsburg State University. She earned her undergraduate degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and accomplished Psychotherapist. She is also a trained and experienced E.M.D.R. practitioner and a certified Child and Family Investigator (C.F.I.).

Dr. O’Boyle has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1997, having practiced psychotherapy in Missouri, Wyoming, and Colorado.  She has worked for non-profit agencies, community agencies and private settings as a psychotherapist, case manager and clinical supervisor. She also served as a faculty member at the University of Missouri, St. Louis and as an extended forensic evaluator at the Children’s Advocacy Center in St. Louis, Missouri. While in St. Louis, Dr. O’Boyle was able to work with Bosnian refugees, addressing issues of war trauma and expanding her knowledge and experience in the area of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Dr. O’Boyle is the newest member of the Alpine Behavior Therapy Clinic in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she provides a broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic and assessment services. She brings her clinical expertise in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Trauma to ABTC. Dr. O’Boyle has extensive experience with young children, adolescents and families. She provides psycho-education, parenting support, and coping strategies for families dealing with histories of neglect, abuse, as well as families coming to terms with issues of conflict, separation and divorce.  Dr. O’Boyle’s clinical approaches include cognitive-behavioral, solution-based and strength-based counseling. Play therapy, EMDR, and guided imagery are also techniques integrated into her approach to assist clients in addressing their concerns and moving towards life positive changes.

In addition to her work as a psychotherapist, Dr. O’Boyle is the mother of two young children and enjoys routine outdoor activities with her family. Originally raised in South Denver, she is delighted to be back in Colorado to have the opportunity to work and raise her own family in the Rocky Mountain area.
