Social Skills Training
At Alpine Behavior Therapy Clinic,
we focus on a comprehensive approach to understanding a child’s specific behaviors.
Careful assessment of a child’s developmental history
is gathered to provide your therapist an accurate child profile
or “snapshot” of how your child functions in his
or her everyday world. With this “whole child constellation” perspective
in mind, we specialize in providing portable and useful skills
that positively shape and train pro-social behaviors for children.
These skills maximize their success within the family, academic
and peer social circles.
Social Skills Training modules are typically presented didactically
to your child on a weekly basis, with informative parent feedback
provided at the close of each individualized session. Role-playing
and modeling along with visual aids are the interactive tools
relied upon to teach these crucial developmental skills to
children who typically struggle with social skills issues.
Areas of social skill adeptness that are routinely reviewed
and practiced include:
- Assertive Communication
- Sharing
- Taking Turns
- Waiting Your Turn
- Being a Helper
- Making Friends
- Being Respectful
- Using Manners
- Personal Space
- Body Language Cues
- Sportsmanship
