How Does Hypnotherapy Work?
The therapists at Alpine Behavior Therapy
Clinic take time
to discuss the dynamics of Hypnotherapy prior to the initial
hypnosis session. This allows for any questions or concerns
to be fully addressed by the patient.
Essentially, hypnotherapy works by the comfortable and easy
induction of physical relaxation. Next, carefully selected
verbal suggestions aimed at changing the subconscious thinking
are provided while the patient is deeply physically and
mentally relaxed.
During hypnotherapy the conscious (alert) mind takes a back
seat and the subconscious mind, (which governs most of our
actions and behaviors) comes forward to listen to and mentally
record healthy, new information as provided by your hypnotherapist.
This information is individually tailored to your specifically
expressed desires, needs and intentions as conveyed to your
hypnotherapist during prior interview.
Research suggests that hypnotherapy is a useful and effective
approach to most habit forming behaviors and tends to be
most effective when the patient has a sincere personal
desire to make these changes occur. Most patients experience a noticeable
change in behavior as soon as after the first session. However,
hypnotherapy is best utilized when applied with the frequency
and duration as clinically determined by your therapist.
