| Frequently
Asked Questions
1. What kind of therapy do you do? (Are you a
flake like my last therapist was?)
We mostly utilize a Cognitive-Behavioral approach in our
work. This means we assist our clients in changing their
behavior by way of helping them become aware of and changing
their negative thinking patterns. Recent research suggests
that this is the fastest and most long-term, effective approach
to assist individuals who struggle with attention related
problems, relationship issues, anxiety and stress, depression,
unwanted habits, etc.. We also utilize an Eriksonian Hypnotherapy approach in conjunction with Psychotherapy in cases where
Hypnosis is relevant.
2. Do you take our insurance? (What will I have to budget
into my health routine?)
We are not set up to bill insurance. Our clients pay us
directly for the services we render. We in turn provide you
with a super bill, which is something that you can submit
to your insurance company to pursue direct reimbursement
from them. The super bill features the CPT code and all the
necessary diagnostic information along with the name and
license number of your provider.
3. How do I know my insurance company will cover this? (Will
I get reimbursed?)
Although we cannot ethically guarantee
that these services will be covered by your specific policy,
we can assure you
that most companies that provide coverage for outpatient
mental health services tend to reimburse our clients since
we often see the EOB’s (Explanation of Benefits) come
across our desks. Coverage tends to be based on your company’s
schedule of coverage for outpatient service rendered by a
licensed professional. Our services are also tax deductible
under medical services. Check with your CPA on this deduction
advantage.
4. How long will therapy take? (What is my long-term commitment
here?)
An initial session lasts about one to one and one-half hour.
Most sessions thereafter last about 50 minutes each. In general,
our clients experience results within a few weeks, but find
benefit in continuing their counseling over several months.
Because we rely on a more solution based, didactic, skill-building
approach in our approach, our clients begin to experience
some positive change in their situations almost immediately.
5. How often will I have to come? (What is my long-term
investment / schedule here?)
Our protocol is that we typically meet with our patients
on a once per week basis for consistency in your improvement.
As steady progress is made, we schedule you every two weeks
and then bump you out for booster sessions on a once per
month or on an as needed basis.
6. What are your fees? (Can I afford this really?)
Cost for therapy at our Clinic is reasonable
and affordable, and varies depending on the specific professional
services
rendered. We are providers for several area EAPs, which
entitles those individuals whose services fall under
these plans to provide a previously contracted co-pay. We
provide
area college students a discounted fee schedule upon
request. Forms of acceptable payment include Cash, Check,
MasterCard,
Visa, or Discover. |
